For Services and Resources in French Polynesia

The Tahiti Cruisers Guide is brought to you by Julien Desmont from Xperimental and Chuck Houlihan from Jacaranda. Starting as an idea based on the very successful Panama City Cruisers guide, it has evolved into 200+ pages of information on vendors and services throughout French Polynesia. In January 2018, we added GPS coordinates and links to Google Maps to assist in locating businesses.

Downloading the guide and GPS map coordinates will facilitate using the guide offline. The coordinates will work for either Maps.me (best for Papeete) or Google Maps.

Especially thankful to John (SV Mary Ann II) and Steve (SV Ocean Star) for their huge effort in supplying a vast amount of information for the guide.

The guide is a community effort. Updates and new additions are greatly appreciated. If you find the guide useful or find something that needs updating please drop us a note at tahiticruisersguide (AT) gmail.com

Located in Raiatea.

8-2022 FP FB Big shout out to Richard. He had been exceptional. Sorted out our windlass - repaired brushed etc - came and installed and tested to make sure. Nothing was to much of a problem. Gave us the local knowledge on replacing batteries and drove us to site and even helped take old ones back to store. Cant thank him enough. He also knows every trade and will happily point you in the right direction for whatever you need. Highly recommended...

6-2022 SV Magic Carpet Based on Raiatea, English first language Richard Neufeld has remedied our autopilot electrical and mechanical problems with speed, creativity, honesty and above all competence.

4-2022 SV Kolea I didn't have time before I left FP, but want to put in a good word for Richard Neufeld in Raiatea for mechanical or electrical issues. He helped me on two separate occasions and dug right in for multiple days. His machine shop came in handy for multiple issues, including a frozen watermaker pump that he managed to get working again. His info is in the Compendium. But if you need it, PM me. Also, I had no problem working from the city dock, in at least 15 knots, and found it to be convenient. But it is bumpy from wakes, and you need good fenders set almost at waterline

4-2022 SV Turtle Blues I'd like to echo the comments about Richard. He is currently helping me with a couple of issues and i really appreciate his knowledge, experience, and work ethic!

He also knows all the tradesman in Raiatea and can recommend trusted individuals

8-2019 Just wanted everyone to know of a valuable cruisers’ asset in Raiatea. Richard Neufeld is a Motorola-trained radio technician, marine electrician, font of general knowledge and all-around good guy. He rebuilt my autopilot linear drive unit for a third the price of a new one, and he also has a machine shop. If you need anything this side of Tahiti, you might drop him a line: Richard_neufeld@yahoo.com.
